Homage paid to Nazrul

People from all walks of life paid homage to the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam placing wreaths at his grave on Dhaka University campus on the occasion of the poet’s 116th birth anniversary.
They started placing wreaths at the grave of the `Bidrohi kobi (the Rebel Poet)` since dawn on Monday.
Headed by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Dr. A A M S Arefin Siddique, a group of teachers and students placed wreath at the grave of the poet around 7:00am.
On behalf of the poet`s family his granddaughters Khilkhil Kazi and Subarna kazi placed wreaths at the grave.
After placing the wreath on behalf of the ministry, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, said he will be announced as the national poet `constitutionally` as soon as possible.
Besides, Nazrul Academy, Sishu Academy, Bangla Academy, Chhayanat, Faculty of Fine Arts of DU, Udichi Shilpigoshthi and many cultural organisations honoured the poet.
