08 May, 2015
The 154th birth anniversary of great poet Rabindranath Tagore is being observed in the country on Friday.
The government has chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day.
President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia have issued separate messages on the eve of the day.
Bangla Academy will organize a cultural programme and ‘Rabindra Puroshkar 2015’ distribution ceremony at its premises on Sunday on this occasion.
Director General of Bangla Academy Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan will give the welcome speech at the programme where Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Nur will be present as the chief guest.
The birth anniversary programmes are also being celebrated at the places associated with Tagore’s memory — at Sheliadah of Kushtia, Shahzadpur in Sirajganj, Patisar in Naogaon and Dakshindihi in Khulna — under the management of the local administration.
