‘Roanu’ crossing Barisal-Chittagong coast

Cyclonic storm ‘Roanu’ started crossing Barisal-Chittagong coast near Chittagong and may complete crossing the coast during next 4-5 hours, reports the UNB.
Six people were killed and 50 others injured as landslides and storms, triggered by the cyclonic Chittagong, Bhola and Patuakhali districts.
In Bhola, four people went missing as two sand-laden cargoes sank in the Meghna River in Ilisha of Sadar upazila during the heavy rains in the morning, said Khairul Kabir, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Besides, authorities suspended all the flight operations at Shah Amanat International Airport here on Saturday due to bad weather as cyclone 'Roanu' moved towards Bangladesh's coastal areas.
Analysis of doppler radar echo and meteorological data indicate that the cyclonic storm ‘Roanu’ (ecp 992 hpa) over northeast bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh moved northeastward further and was centered at 12:00 noon about 100 km southwest of Chittagong port (near lat 22.00 n & long 91.00e), said a Met office bulletin.
Under the influence of the cyclonic storm, gusty/squally wind is continuing over the coastal areas of Bangladesh.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 km of the cyclone center is about 62 kph rising to 88 kph in gusts/squalls. sea will remain very rough near the cyclone center.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted danger signal number seven (r) seven.
Coastal districts of Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Feni, Chandpur, Bhola, Barguna, Patuakhali, Barisal, Pirozpur, Jhalakathi, Bagherhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars will come under danger signal number seven (r) seven.
Maritime ports of Cox’s Bazar has been advised to keep hoisted danger signal number six (r) six.
