20 hurt as hailstorm lashes city

At least 20 people were injured as hailstorm suddenly lashed Dhaka city on Wednesday noon (February 24).
Of the injured, 14 are leaders-activists of Community Health Care Provider, who were staging hunger strike unto death on Central Shaheed Minar premises.
Some of injured include Rezaul Karim, Saiful Haq Jewel, Pradip, Sumon Mandal, Sanjida, Aklima and Shimul Khan.
Different areas of Dhaka city also witnessed rain with hailstorm from 11:00am to 12:00pm on the day.
Alongside 14 strikers, at least six injured people from different areas of the city rushed to Dhaka medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said DMCH police outpost Nayek Rafiqul Islam.
Some workers of Community Health Care Providers told banglanews that they were observing a hunger strike unto death at Shaheed Minar to press their demands, including nationalization of their service.
During the time, a hailstorm hit their leaders-activists, leaving 14 of them injured.
