Private teachers’ registration lifetime
30 Jun, 2013
Private teachers will be given lifetime validity for their registration certificates, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told the parliament on Sunday.
Earlier, the registration certificates were valid for five years.
“An order was issued to make this effective on Jun 13,” Nahid said in reply to a question by ruling MP Nasimul Alam Chowdhury.
The five-year validaty for registration of private teachers has now been abolished, he said. "Those who got certificates from Non-government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Autority, NTRCA, will enjoy lifetime validity."
Eight examinations have been held, including one last year, to test teachers in private schools since 2005 to ensure quality in such appointments.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education recommended giving lifetime validity to the registration certificates issued to private teachers last November.
Answering another question from MP Rowshan Jahan Sathi, the Minister said that the draft of Education Act-2013 was being prepared.
