DU students confine proctor

A group of general students of the Dhaka University (DU) have confined the university’s proctor at his office as the BCL men on Monday foiled a demonstration by the students demanding that the university cancel its affiliation with seven colleges in the capital.
The students started their agitation programme at 11am and urged the proctor AKM Golam Rabbani to resign from the administrative post.
At that time, they also vandalized some windows of the proctor office. The tense situation was prevailing at the campus in the incident.
Earlier on Monday, the agitating students claimed some BCL activists foiled their rally in front of the VC office. They also assaulted and harassed female students and on-duty campus journalists.
They harassed female students verbally and physically and forced to leave them the place.
On February 23 of last year the seven colleges were made affiliates of DU under the orders of the prime minister and the Ministry of Education.
Admission tests, textbooks and examinations for Dhaka College, Eden Women’s College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul College, Begum Badrunnessa Government Women's College, Mirpur Government Bangla College and Government Titumir College have been organised by Dhaka University.
