Teachers among 3 suspended over IU question leak

The authorities of Islamic University (IU) have suspended three people including a mathematics department chief over question paper leakage in the first year admission test of the ‘F’ (Applied Science and Technology) unit of the 2016-2017 sessions.
The university authorities also expelled a student for life term and cancelled admission of over 100 students.
The suspended persons are Nurul Islam, chief of Mathematics department and Alauddin and Saiful Islam, university employees.
Two other teachers Dr Mizanur Rahman of Mathematics department, and Altaf Hossain Russel of Statistics department, were issued show-cause notice.
The decision was taken at the 233rd syndicate meeting of the university held on Monday (March 06).
IU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Harun-or-Rashid Ashkari told the Banglanews that they have taken the decision, as involvement of the teacher and others in question paper leakage have been proved in the investigation.
Alongside the suspension, a fresh admission test will also be taken for the unit.
On the other hand, Monozit Kumar Mandal, an MA student of the Mathematics department, was expelled from the university.
Meanwhile, chief of the Finance and Banking department Asaduzzaman was sacked temporarily for PhD related complex.
