Lalmonirhat madrasa students in a soup
09 Feb, 2017
More than 200 students at Lalmonirhat madrasas were taught 'Bangladesh O Biswa Porichoy' (Bangladesh and the World), listed on the board as subject code 143.
But when these students in six madrasas at Lalmonirhat's Kaliganj Upazila were registered for the Dakhil exams two years ago, the code 142, designated to Physical Education and Sports, was ticked by mistake.
And the teachers missed the inadvertent slip.
When the admit cards for the Dakhil exams arrived, the students spotted the mistake and asked for a correction.
The madrasa management told them it was not possible and that they should hurriedly prepare for the Physical Education and Sports exams.
Students of the six madrasas -- Monirabad Sufia Ekramia Alim Madrasa, Sakhati Jabbaria Dakhil Madrasa, Bhullarhat Ashrafia Dakhil Madrasa, Dalgram Dakhil Madrasa, Kashiram Ekramia Alim Madrasa and Tetulia Dakhil Madrasa -- face a strange predicament, sitting for a subject they were never taught.
