Friends joined Oishee to commit murder
19 Aug, 2013
The law enforcers are yet to find out the motive behind the killing of inspector of Special Branch (SB) Mahfuzur Rahman, and his wife Swapna Rahman.
Monirul Islam Joint Commissioner (Detective Branch) of Dhaka Metropolitan of police (DMP) told The New Nation yesterday that after preliminary interrogation, they became sure about drug-addicted daughter Oishee's involvement in her parents' murder. Police said that Oishee killed her parents as they were creating obstacles on way to her reckless life.
During the investigation, it was also found that Oishee is drug addict and it is very important to find out the source of her drug, he added
Monirul said, "Oishee had many friends. She had become spoiled. Her parents tried to check this and did not allow her to get out of the house."
"Oishee was furious with her mother, so she stabbed her 11 times, while stabbing her father only twice."
When asked how many were involved in the murder, he said, "We know that Oishee was involved. The matter will become clear when we find her two other friends."
Oishee Rahman, daughter of slain inspector of Special Branch (SB) of police and his wife, has been placed on a five-day remand for interrogation in connection with the killing of her parents.
Mizanur Rahman Rony, Oishee's friend, and domestic help Khadiza Khatun Sumi were also placed on five-day remand each in connection with the murder.
Mahfuzur Rahman, 48, and his wife Swapna Rahman, 40, were found dead at their Chamelibagh flat Friday afternoon.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mizanur Rahman Rony granted the remand of the trio on Sunday after Paltan police produced them before his court seeking a 10-day remand for each of the accused.
Shahidullah Pradhan, a sub-inspector of Paltan Police Station and also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, submitted a forwarding report before the court in support of placing the accused on remand.
In the report, the IO said that the primary investigation showed that Oishee along with her other accomplices committed the murder.
In his plea he stated that Oishee was under the influence of drugs. She and her drug-addict friends joined hands to commit the murder. The three had to be interrogated to identify the other killers and to unveil the mystery behind the murder.
Lawyers Mahabub Hasan Rana, Chowdhury Mohammad Galib Rakib and Rezaur Rahman Tinku, Oishee's kawyers opposed the remand plea. Advocate Montu Ranjan Das represented Oishee's friend Rony.
Oishee's lawyer Mahbub Rana argued that Oishee, a minor, should not be remanded in police custody.
He said the hearing should be stopped and shifted to a juvenile court, and interrogation, if necessary, could be done in lockup.
Rana said, "The family and the society that shaped Oishee should be brought to justice."
The judge, however, rejected their request for bail, giving the police five days to interrogate them.
The judge, in his order, stated that Oishee will have to be questioned in presence of a woman police officer with extra caution.
Oishee told reporters in the court, "I feel bad for mother and father. I have asthma." She was seen holding an inhaler in her hand.
Oishee was in 'hiding' ever since her parents' blood-drenched bodies were recovered from the bathroom-bolted from outside-of their Chamelibagh flat on Friday.
