JL leader hurt in Wari shooting dies at city hospital

A local Jubo League (JL) leader, who sustained bullet injuries in an attack by miscreants in the city’s Wari area on Tuesday night, died at Square Hospital on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Mannan,30, general secretary of the ward-31 unit of Jubo League, the youth wing of ruling Awami League.
Sources said two miscreants on a motorcycle opened fire on Mannan in front of his residence in Nakshi Rupayon under Wari Police Station around 10:30pm on Tuesday while he was getting down from a rickshaw.
With bullet wounds in the head and chest, he was first admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital and then shifted to Square Hospital at about 11:30 pm as his condition deteriorated.
Later, he succumbed to his injures at Square Hospital at about 7:00 am on Wednesday.
Tapan Kumar, officer-in-charge of Wari Police Station, confirmed the death of Mannan.
