Swapnadal Selim Al Deen Festival’ at Shilpakala Academy

A two-day festival titled “Swapnadal Selim Al Deen Festival’ celebrating the 64th birth anniversary of the country’s one of the major playwrights, late Selim Al Deen is scheduled to be held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the city’s Segunbagicha area from August 17.
Theatre troupe, Swapnadal will organise the festival featuring discussions, placing wreath to the grave of the playwright, seminar and choreography and play presentations.
Noted theatre personality Nasiruddin Yousuff Bachchu will inaugurate the festival as chief guest at 6:30pm on August 17 at Studio Theatre Hall of BSA.
The organisers will arrange a presentation of choreography prior to the inaugural ceremony while the inauguration will be followed by the presentation of Selim Al Deen’s memoirs “Festoone Lekha Smriti” at 7:00pm.
The play, scripted by Zaharabi Ripon, will jointly be directed by Samad Bhuiyan and Rownak Laboni.
The show will be open to all.
On August 18, the organisers will go to Jahangirnagar University to place wreath to Selim Al Deen’s grave. They will start from National Theatre Hall of BSA at 8:00am.
A seminar on Selim Al Deen’s works through the eyes of younger playwrights will be held at 4:00pm at the Academy’s seminar room.
Selim Al Deen’s play “Hargaj,” directed by Zahid Repon, will be staged at the Academy’s Experimental Theatre Hall at 7:00pm on the day, according to the organisers.
