Beauty parlours witness huge rush

Most of the beauty parlours, which provide skin care, facial aesthetic, foot care, hair treatment and many other services, are experiencing a heavy rush of young girls and women, with Eid-ul-Fitr just around the corner.
Fashion enthusiasts, particularly the young people, rushed to different parlours and salons to get a new look with new hair style and make-up to celebrate the festivals.
Rush of girls and women to beauty salons from all strata is more this year, said Persona owner Kaniz Almas Khan.
The crowd has been significantly increasing since last week ahead of Eid festival, she said, adding that around 1,000 customers took services from Persona’s different outlets every day for the last one week.
Persona has six outlets for women and three for men in different areas across the city, Kaniz Almas added. ‘I enjoy the crowd and feel the festive mood,’ she said.
Asked about parlours’ association, she told New Age, ‘We will start working on parlours’ association as the business has increasingly been flourishing all over the country.’
Sharmin Shumi, a customer of Persona, told New Age, ‘Beautification is not a luxury, it is a necessity as I am working in a multi-national company and I am very much conscious about my health and beauty.’
Farzana Shakil’s Makeover Salon Ltd, one of the most prominent names in the beauty industry, is experiencing a huge crowd ahead of Eid festival, said the owner, Farzana Shakil.
She told New Age, ‘Around 800-1000 fashion enthusiasts daily rushed to our three outlets at Dhanmondi, Gulshan and Uttara to decorate themselves with new hairstyle and make-up to celebrate the festival.’
Rumi Rahman, a customer of Farzana Shakil, said, ‘Eid is our only festival as a Muslim, so I came here to decorate myself in the preparation of celebrating the festival.’
Afroza Parveen, owner of another beauty parlour, Red, told New Age, ‘People started coming after the third day of Ramadan but we are experiencing rush since the last week.’
‘As we have only one outlet, around 100 customers visit our shops daily,’ she added.
Afroza also said, ‘We are using the international cosmetics and products to provide the best service to our valued customers.’
Nadia Khan, a customer of Red, said, ‘I am a student of a private university and I want myself to look good on the day of Eid.’
Arifa Hossain and Shahida Rabbani, owners of Sajai Beauty Parlour, a well-known beauty salon in Banani, told New Age, ‘We have got more than 200 customers daily since last week.’
They charge much less than other parlours so that middle-income people could come and take their service, they added.
Arifa and Shahida demanded formation of an association to monitor the service of all parlours as the parlour business has been flourishing.
