Tailors passing hectic days

Tailors are passing hectic days as orders pours in ahead of the Eid festival.
Though some tailors have already stopped taking new orders for Eid, people were seen to gather at tailors and fabrics shops on Wednesday to order dresses for their Eid celebrations.
Despite huge availability of readymade garments, demand for tailored garments has not decreased at all, said Bidhan Saha, a salesman of Janani Tailors at Mouchak Market.
For nice fitting, women come to tailors even if they buy stitched dresses from boutiques, he said.
Bidhan said that every day they start sewing at 11:00am and continue till 4:00pm.
There was a huge rush in capitals market as well as tailors shop situated in the markets. Long queues of customers were seen to order for dresses and to collect dresses.
Schoolteacher Nujhat Tamanna, who came to New Market to order two blouses and one set of salwar kamiz for Eid, said, ‘Sometimes I buy readymade garments but usually I prefer tailor shops and especially for Eid dress it is a must.’
Regarding charges, she said that tailors charge high during Eid but it is not unjustified for a better outfit.
She said that for blouse they charge Tk 500 and for salwar kamiz Tk 250-400.
Most of the tailors already stopped taking anymore order for Eid, except some regular clients, said Alal, a tailor of Nandini tailors of Rajlaxmi Market Uttara.
He said that they would continue taking order till the 20th Ramadan.
Alal added that women like frills, laces to make Eid dress more gorgeous but in the mid-Ramadan they were discouraging designs as they were time consuming.
Sunmoon Tailors salesman Mintu said they were getting orders for pants, shirts, suits and safari.
Roadside tailor Jafar Sheikh told New Age due he was getting no time to take rest because of the pressure of work.
Residents of Moghbazar come to Jafar not only to get their dresses sewed but also to get prepared their bed covers, curtains and pillow covers for home decoration.
