Man killed in Dhaka ‘gunfight’

An unidentified male, aged around 40, was killed in a “gunfight” with detectives in Dhaka’s commercial hub Motijheel early today.
The incident took place in AGB colony around 3:30am, Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) told The Daily Star.
However, the official could not reveal further details regarding the identity of the victim and as to the reason behind the “gunfight”.
Sources said, the man was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with several bullet wounds on his chest. On-duty doctors at the hospital declared him dead after arrival.
A Motijheel Police Station Sub-Inspector Feroz is said to have taken the body to the hospital.
DMP spokesperson Masudur Rahman said the other associates of the victim managed to flee and that one pistol, two bullets and five crude bombs were recovered from the scene.
