Two transport workers were shot dead by miscreants in separate incidents at Badalkot area under Chatkhil upazila in the district early Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Kamal Uddin, 35, a worker of ticket counter of ‘Al Baraka Paribahan’ at Dashgharia bus stand under Chatkhil upazila, and Dulal Hossain, 25, a bus helper hailed from Sundurpur village in the same upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Chatkhil Police Station Aminul Islam confirmed the matter to banglamail.

Two gunmen attacked the ticket counter of ‘Al Baraka Paribahan’ in Dashgharia at about 05:15am and opened fire at Kamal while he was performing his duty, leaving him injured critically.

The injured was rushed to Chatkhil Upazila Health Complex where on duty doctors declared him dead.

Later, the gunman opened two rounds of bullet targeting the bus helper Dual while he was walking in front of his house at Sundurpur village, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police recovered the two bodies and took them to the police station.

However, the reason behind the killings could not be known immediately.
