The Stupidity of the Most Irresponsible
26 September 2014, Friday
ISIS is a coalition of extremist hardliners and rejects of the Arab and Muslim world along with a few tag-along delusioned and impressionable men and women from the West desperate to create an utopian Islamic State as a panacea to all the worlds troubles. They don’t care how they achieve this and how much blood they shed to arrive at their desired goal. They neither have sufficient political expediency nor much Islamic knowledge. What they are doing in the name of Islam is totally against Islam. And everyone knows this!
The new coalition against ISIS is equally stupendously foolish. It is composed of illegitimate rulers, despots, dictators and some democrats. This is stupidity at its best. Let us examine the Muslim countries that have joined the American led operation in the region. Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, the local absolute monarchs and despots have joined in the game for destroying ISIS. The truth is some of them initially funded the creation of some of these brutal killing machines in the Syrian conflict and now paddling back to gain a few brownie points from their masters in the U.S.
What do you call such blatant hypocrisy? Stupidity or foolishness! I am totally lost for words.
I agree that the menace of ISIS must be stopped but who should stop them? It reminds of the story of Jesus when he addressed a frenzied crowd around a woman guilty of adultery. They were desperate to stone her to death when Jesus said, “let he who is without sin cast the first stone”. The irony is the bombers are no better than the bombed!
Should those governments who have never been elected legitimately be part of cleaning up the region?
Should those monarchs who have assumed power by brutal repression and bloodbath and continue to remain in power by terrorising their citizens, inflicting fear and authoritarian dictat become part of the solution?
Should those despots who are guilty of gross violation of human rights be part of the freeing people of the region?
Who has given the moral authority to those who have turned a blind eye or actively supported the killings and or aided and abetted in inflicting pains and suffering on Palestinians for 65 years the right to preach to the world about freedom and values?
Should countries that sell lethal weapons to dictators, support tyrants and carryout illegal wars become part of the solution for the region?
I say no! People who are guilty of those moral and political crimes should not be allowed to be part of a coalition that takes on ISIS. It should be led by countries that have cleaner record for peace, justice and stability in the world.
ISIS may get destroying under the firepower of the current coalition of the foolish but I can guarantee you that another more menacing mutation of ISIS would emerge to cause more trouble, death and destruction in the Middle East and the world unless we change the way we do business.
Western world, which is the more powerful and dominant in the world today, cannot ignore their abysmal failures in the Middle East and their contributory foreign policies. If the Muslim world was not whimsically curved up and given to the bootlicking stooges who have become absolute monarchs today, the current mess in the Muslim world would not be. Who curved up the Muslim world in the first place – the western colonial powers did!
If the State of Israel were not created, the current Palestinian and Middle Eastern problems would not be. The blind support of a rogue state called Israel has caused the biggest fracture and hatred in the hearts and minds of the Muslim masses towards the West. Who created Israel - the west did! No matter how many bombs western governments unleash in the Middle East, no matter how many illegal invasions it carries out in the region and no matter how many mass murders by the dictators it condones or stays silents about, the Muslim worlds detestation of the West at this rate would not subside.
I am afraid I have bad news for you Mr Barak Obama and your friends – there will be more al-Qaeda and ISIS sympathisers in the world if the West persists on its misguided and totally rotten foreign policies towards the Muslim world. The only way to win and the hearts and minds of the Muslims are to support Muslims total right to self-determination and freedom.
This in practice would mean that:
1. The West must stop its support of all illegitimate regimes in the Muslims world immediately.
2. The Muslims masses must be allowed to enjoy freedom just like we enjoy it in the West.
3. They must be allowed to elect any government of their choice just like we participate in democratic processes and occasionally we elect unsavoury rulers like Bush in USA and Blair in the UK.
4. They must be free to pursue their own legal system based on their faith and cultural principles just like we in the west enjoy our own legal principles. What unites French and British legal systems are the international conventions. The same would apply to the Muslim world.
5. Muslim world must be allowed to develop its own economic independence and not be swallowed up by IMF loans and debt-ridden economies. International Aid by the more powerful countries yield more negative outcomes and creates dependency culture. This must be stopped.
6. Muslim world must be allowed to trade openly and freely in the worlds free markets. Goods, produce and commodities must be allowed to reach the market without unfair trade rules.
7. Muslim world must be left alone without western political, economic and military interferences for its own interest. Providing honest assistance for growth and development is not the same as interference.
If the Muslim world becomes free, democratic and ruled by legitimate rulers the problem of Al-Qaeda, ISIS, extremism and terrorism emerging from the Muslim world could be a thing of the past. A free Muslim world, a democratic Muslim world and economically prosperous Muslim world is a good news for the world at large. Why is it so difficult for the Western world to see the elephant in the room?
The current bombing of the ISIS controlled area in Iraq and Syria will only see more innocent civilians killed, more images of children and women blown to bits emerging and more young people frantically rushing to join ISIS or forming other more fanatical groups. The current bombing is nothing but short-termism with little gain but more pain.
I would like to see an end to the bloodshed, death and destruction right now but unless the West is willing to change its attitude towards the Muslim world the world will not be stable or peaceful. Every Muslim I speak to is sick and tired of this lunacy. Every non-Muslim I speak to desperately wants to see an end to this madness. Yet our leaders in the West are totally blinkered and led by lobby groups with economic and power interests.
Our freedom, our peace, our harmonious existence is directly linked to the real freedom, peace and justice in the Muslim world. We only have one world, we can either share it fairly or we could cause much pain and misery for everyone! The choice for me is simple – I want the Muslim world to be free like I am free in the West!
