Bangladesh Jamaat Chief Close to Execution

Bangladesh is running through a crucial period now. The ideological battle between Islam and Secularism has gone to the court room and it has already taken the lives of 3 top leaders of the Islamic movement.

Though the state apparatus are extremely hostile, despite that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, the victim of the current persecution, faced the situation legally. They had ignored the path of violence always and tried to save their leaders through constructive programs and due legal battle.

But after the execution of 3 top leaders, now the party chief Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami is the latest victim of sheer injustice who is very close to gallows.

The present secular government had come to the office with the assistance of the then India’s ruling secular Congress Party. Both of these secular parties considered Jamaat-e-Islami as their biggest enemy for their pro-Islam and anti-aggression role. As a result they decided to persecute the top influential Islamist leaders.

Since the beginning of this judicial procedure, Jamaat continuously alleged that this trial is nothing but a government’s attempt to oppress the party as its leaders had voiced against the corruption and anti-national activities of the government. Jamaat has been steadfastly claiming that the claim of the ruling party and the media propaganda about the role of the party and its leaders during the independence war is completely false, baseless and fabricated.

Being a veteran politician and an aged person, Mr. Nizami is not being freed from the inhuman and barbaric hostility of the present government Mr. Nizami is famous for his corruption free tenure as a Minister of the previous 4 party alliance government. His truthfulness has been exposed once again as even at the verge of execution, coming to the age of 73, he has denied to compromise with the falsehood and expressed desire to face martyrdom.
