Seminar on ‘Residential Childcare Practices: Experiences of Children in Bangladesh’

Greetings from ActionAid Bangladesh !

We are pleased to invite you to our Seminar on Residential Childcare Practices: Experiences of Children in Bangladesh in our ongoing efforts to safeguard the rights of the children, particularly of marginalised and excluded groups.

The objective of this seminar is to present, discuss and deliberate on the current practices of the residential childcare systems operating in Bangladesh. Dr. Tuhinul Islam, a researcher and practitioner in this sector, will present the keynote paper based on his doctoral thesis findings while child representatives from such childcare centres will share their experiences. It is expected that this sharing will reveal a coherent picture of current residential childcare systems, policies and practices, and pave the way for a National Residential Childcare Policy in future.

Kazi Reazul Haque, fulltime member of National Human Rights Commission, has given his kind consent to participate as the Chief Guest of the programme. Dr. Abul Hossain, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and Project Director, Multi Sectoral Project to SVAW, will grace the programme as Guest of Honour. Child Parliament Speaker, Sabbir Ahmed Hemo, will join the programme as Special Guest.
