Amal ki kitab thi

Dua ki kitab bana dia

Samajhne ki kitab thi

Parhne ki kitab bana dia

Zindaon ka dastoor tha

Murdon ka manshoor bana dia

Jo ilm ki kitab thi

Usey la ilmon ke hath thama dia

Taskheer-e-kayenat ka dars dene aayi thi

Sirf madarson ka nisaab bana dia

Murda qomon ko zinda karne aayi thi

Murdon ko bakhshwane per laga dia

Aye Musalmano ye hamne kia kiya ?

The Book of Action

The Book that was for Study

The Constitution for the Living

The Book that contained Knowledge

It came to teach how to Rule the World

Dead Nations it came to revive

O Muslims, see what you have done to it ?

Was changed to a Book of Supplication

Became a Book of Recitation

Changed into a Permit for the Dead

Came into the hands of Ignorant

Became a mere Course in the Madrasah

Salvation of the Dead is all you prescribe

Will you not spare a Thought for it !

জীবন্তদের বিধান ছিল

হয়ে গেল মৃতদের ছাড়পত্র

জ্ঞান-বিজ্ঞানের শাস্ত্র ছিল

পড়ে গেল মূর্খদের হাতে ।

সৃষ্টিকে বশ করার আহ্বান ছিল

থেমে রইল মাদ্রাসার পাঠক্রমে

প্রাণহীনকে চেয়েছিল প্রাণবন্ত করতে

লেগে গেল বিদেহীদের পরিত্রাণকল্পে ।

ওহে মুসলমান, এ কী তুমি করলে ?

চোখ মেল, আর ভেবে দেখ !
