Free Textbooks supplied by the Government on Jan 1

Despite it being a weekly holiday the government will distribute textbooks to students on 01 Jan 2016.Textbook distribution for primary and secondary school students usually take place the same day. The students will have to collect their textbooks from their respective institutions. The primary and mass education ministry will give away books to students of Classes I to V, while the education ministry will take care of classes VI to XI. Textbooks for primary students will be distributed on that day as it had been always done. As a result, 22.32 million students and 482,000 teachers of 108,000 primary schools in Bangladesh will have to show up on a Friday. But this year, Education Ministery will launch the textbook distribution for secondary schools on Jan 2. This year, the government will distribute 340 million free textbooks to school-goers. This year 22 local bidders jointly secured NCTB’s orders to print the books for the primary school students after the tenders they had submitted proved the lowest. The education minister gets greater coverage in case of a joint ceremony. People get the idea it’s the education ministry that distributes all the textbooks.
