BANGLADESH’S PER CAPITA INCOME RISES TO $1,314 IN THE CURRENT FINANCIAL YEAR

The per capita income in Bangladesh has risen from $1,190 to $1,314, Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) says. Bangladesh economy ranked 58th on the basis of the current per capita income. The figure emerged from an analysis of data pertaining to the first nine months (July-March) of the 2014-15 financial year. The data also revealed that the Bangladesh GDP grew at 6.51 percent in the current fiscal. The national statistics agency publishes preliminary growth data, per capita income, and some major economic indices in May every year. According to the preliminary data provided in May, 2014, the GDP growth was 6.12 percent in the 2013-14 fiscal year. Bangladesh's economy grew at 6.51 percent in the first nine months of the 2014-15 fiscal year. The target of present government was seven percent. We could have achieved the target if there were no burnings (arson attacks) during a large part of the year. The rising per capita income brings Bangladesh ever more close to the vision of the present Government to turn the country into middle-income one by 2021. The three-months blockade enforced by the BNP and its allies hampered the development of country's economy. But the present govt. tackled the situation very well and bring the country in the safer position.
